Interlibrary Loans

The Interlibrary Loans Department acts as a link between the University of Cape Town Libraries and other libraries in Southern Africa and abroad. If a required book or article is not in stock at UCT, it may be requested on interlibrary loan.

The department provides a service to the staff and students of the University, as well as to institutions belonging to the interlending network in Southern Africa.

Books and photocopied articles are obtained from local institutions and through the CISTI and British Lending and Document Supply Centre. The department works closely with those institutions belonging to the Cape Library Cooperative (CALICO). Material available at these libraries is both obtained and supplied as a priority.
